Every year the festive of lights called Diwali, is celebrated in India and around the world with millions of lights shining on housetops and crackers.

And every year the pollution level of Delhi rise beyond any limit ever describe in most of the cities in the world, due to the massive use of smoking crackers.

As we all are aware of the effects of increase of pollution level on health.

But what are the effects of these crackers on the solar power generation?

Let's do a case study.

There is 10 kW of ON-Grid solar power plant install by us (SORALITEPOWER) at IIM (India Institute of Metallurgy)-Tuklagabad, Delhi.

And the following picture shows the power generation of the same for the month of October, 2017.

Now, as you can see the, Diwali celebration was happening on the19th of October, 2017 and after the night of celebration the power production of solar power plant is dropping by 7 to 9 units per day.

"7 to 9 units means, power consumes by a 1.5 ton of AC in 6 to 8 hours or power consume by average house in Delhi in a three days. And for your more information the power consumption by an average family in Delhi is higher than the rest of the country."

Now the average loss of power generation due to smog generated by diwali crackers is 1 unit per kW of solar power plant.

And the solar power plant installs in Delhi are about 56 MW. Now you can estimate the total loss of power in Delhi by yourself.

But why did the power generation decreased after Diwali?

We know that solar power output is dependent upon environmental factors, including cloud cover, solar radiance, and ambient air temperatures. Accordingly, it would seem logical that air pollution could also play a factor.

"This loss of power generation can be easily overcome upto some level by cleaning the panels right after Diwali's night"
